Pooneh Kateb

Dear Parents,

I'm Pooneh Kateb, the founder of Happy Pony Daycare. While my background began in midwifery (Bachelor of Science in Medical Science), my heart has always belonged to nurturing young minds.

For over 20 years, I've dedicated myself to children in various ways. I'm a passionate advocate for early childhood education, believing in its transformative impact on children and families. My love for working with children led me to pursue a certificate in Early Childhood Education for Infants and Toddlers.

Beyond my qualifications, I bring a deep love for nature to Happy Pony House. This allows me to create unique learning experiences that combine education with the wonder of the outdoors. Here, children have the opportunity to grow and learn in a safe, supportive, and stimulating environment.

Moving to Canada solidified my desire to make early learning my life's work. I believe a strong foundation in education is the most valuable gift we can give a child. Witnessing their development and collaborating with families brings me immense joy. Every day at Happy Pony House is a privilege, and working with each child and family is truly rewarding.

Our Philosophy

We care about kids!

Our Philosophy: Nurturing Young Minds Through Play and Exploration

At Happy Pony Daycare, we believe in creating a safe, secure, and stimulating environment – a "third teacher" for our children – that fosters a love of learning and exploration.

Learning Through Play: Building Essential Skills

We embrace play-based learning, where children develop critical skills for life through engaging activities. These include motor skills, social skills, cognitive abilities, creativity, language, and more. Witnessing the joy on their faces as they discover the wonders of the world around them is what truly motivates us.

Sensory Exploration and Individualized Learning

We integrate daily sensory experiences into our curriculum, allowing children to learn and explore at their own pace. We believe in observing and responding to each child's unique needs, fostering a sense of belonging and self-confidence that contributes to their healthy development.

Celebrating Diversity and Cultural Identity

We embrace diversity in all forms – cultural backgrounds, family structures, and individual beliefs. Providing consistent routines and respecting cultural values helps children connect with their heritage and build a strong positive self-identity.

Social and Emotional Development

We use everyday situations to teach children about emotions, empathy, and problem-solving skills. By setting clear limits, offering guidance, and explaining expectations, we empower them to become confident and socially adept individuals.

Open Communication and Collaboration

We believe in open communication and collaboration with families. Our open-door policy welcomes parents and guardians to visit anytime and participate in their child's care and activities. Our educators follow a curriculum based on Early Childhood Education (ECE) best practices, providing individual and flexible care as needed. Additionally, our staff is trained to offer support for families facing lifestyle challenges like deployment or relocation.

Inclusion for All

We believe all children deserve the opportunity to thrive. Our programs and activities are designed to be inclusive, welcoming all children to participate to the fullest extent of their abilities.
